Sad news from Antwerp

I got a notification today that Opel is going to close the Antwerp Assembly Plant where our North American Astras (along with all of the others, I think) are built.  Damn....

Damn  Not heard that one yet, might go look in a sec.

Although, the home of the Astra, where quite a lot of them are built nowadays is in Ellesmere Port in England  The first Astras were built here, and the first of the new MK6 Astra are all being built there.

Still a shame about Antwerp though.

Hey, I was not aware of the plant in the UK!  That's good news for you.  Still, a shame about those of us driving waffle-mobiles!  You know, from Belgium...Belgian Waffles.  That's why I named my car Manon, a French/Belgian name.  Not that funny, eh?

Actually, my favorite car that I owned previously was UK-built - my 2003 Honda Civic Si.  That one and my Astra are my favorites so far.  I wish the new Mk VI Astras were coming to the USA!
