Hello, Has anyone tried to change the boot covering the shifter?  I am trying to figure out how to remove the knob without damaging it or the shaft.  Most suggestions I have found so far involve a hacksaw (unacceptable) or some sort of heat application (heat gun or boiling water).  Any advice would be great.  Also, if anyone knows if the knob is press to fit or if it has some adhesive between it and the shaft, that information would be greatly appreciated as it will help me make a decision on whether to remove the knob or to cut the boot.

Thanks

the boot is all part of the shifter assembly, since it's all one piece (part number wise at least). I'm not sure what it would take to remove just the boot, leaving the rest intact.

So, I actually got the shifter boot off and installed a new one, I will post pics when I can get them off my phone....., I wouldn't recommend doing this though unless you are fairly comfortable with tools cuz it was a pain
